CWIS was founded as CountryWide Inspection Services in 1994. The company got its start performing government contracts through the award of a contract performing Disaster Inspections contract for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). CWIS was called on to perform disaster inspections in Washington State, North Carolina and Florida. CWIS responded with as many as 60 inspectors who responded in less than 36 hours in all cases and completed over 12,000 disaster inspections. CWIS followed up this success by winning four contracts with the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) to determine the accuracy and reasonableness of the rent allowances being paid to DOI employees living throughout the United States. CWIS successfully completed four such contracts over a three-year period in 22 states.
The company has a strong background of inspecting both single and multi-family residences to various HUD inspection standards. We have provided reports via several reporting media, to include the HUD Real Estate Assessment Center (REAC) computerized reporting and the HUD Special Property Inspections (SPI) web-based reporting (eSPI) system. CWIS has the flexibility to complete any inspection, report it on any checklist and provide the result in any required format.
Over the past four years, CWIS has performed over 25,000 initial, follow-up and special inspections in the performance of HUD’s Special Property Inspection (SPI) contracts. These inspections have been completed in seven states in the southeast part of the United States and Puerto Rico. CWIS has repeatedly demonstrated its ability to manage the efforts of numerous inspectors in widely separated geographical areas.
